Mervin Bitikofer I graduated from Hesston College (AA degree) in 1987 and then completed my bachelor degree in electrical engineering at Kansas State University in 1992. Then I discovered my love for teaching as I started part-time at a small Christian school (then Living Word Christian School). Over twenty years later now, I am still teaching math and science full-time with the same organization (now Flint Hills Christian) in Manhattan, KS.

Tina Callender I grew up in Goodland, Kansas. I graduated from Fort Hays State University with a B.S. in K-12 Physical Education and Health with a minor in Science. I earned a masters degree from Kansas State University in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in Environmental Science. I am currently working at West Elementary in Wamego, Kansas as an elementary physical education teacher and coach volleyball at Wamego Middle School.

Julie Canfield I teach Physical Education/Health Education at Wamego High School, USD 320. I am an Assistant Cross Country Coach, Weights Club Sponsor/Power Lifting Coach and an Assistant Middle School Track Coach. I earned my Bachelor's degree in physical education and health education and a Master's degree in physical education from Emporia State University. I have taught physical education/health for 9 years, 8 of those years being at Wamego High School. I teach Freshman P.E., Weightlifting, Advanced Weightlifting, Outdoor Recreation and Lifetime Fitness.

Scott Capes Scott Capes is a reformed science teacher that is now teaching the Engineering and Applied Mathematics pathway in the technology education department at Emporia High School. This includes 4 sections of a pre-engineering course that counts as a physical science credit, 2 sections of robotics and an advance projects class currently as an independent study. In addition to this he is an assistant debate coach and the technical director for the EHS theater. He has a BSE in Chemistry and Physics as well as a MS in Physical Science both from Emporia State University. (Sorry about the picture. Michael Carey Born in Kansas, educated K-14 in Kansas. Moved to Illinois and graduated college from Concordia University, Chicago IL. Taught in a wide variety of situations from K-14. Major time spent in Lutheran High School, Racine, WI and Central Heights High School, Richmond, KS. Returned to Kansas in 91. Moved from Business Education to Computer Science to Career and Technical Education. One wife, one son, two daughters. Plus family additons of 1 pig, 2 horses, 2 dogs, 1 cat, 10 cows and related offspring. Hazel eyes and blonde hair (once upon a time).

Lyric Carins After majoring in Education at Tabor College, I taught Chemistry and AP Chemistry at Salina Central High School for 9 years. During this time, I earned a MSE at K-state and also developed a passion for Earth Science specifically Kansas geology. Life changes and I spent the next 9 years raising our two daughters amid giving piano lessons and teaching at our local college. The past 5 years I have been teaching Physics and when needed AP Physics at Salina South High School.

Lindsey Constance (Burch) Raised in Overland Park, Kansas, I earned my Bachelor's degree in elementary education with a science minor and a Masters of Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Kansas. I currently teach sixth grade at Bluejacket Flint Elementary in the Shawnee Mission School District. Previously, I taught middle school math and science, as well as environmental science at an outdoor school in California.

Cynthia Couchman After graduating from KSU (GO CATS!), I taught math at Concordia High School for 5 years and have currently been teaching math at Buhler High School for the past 21 years. (I guess I just gave my age away!) Next year I will be teaching AP Calculus, College Algebra, and Pre-Calculus/Trigonometry. I love learning new things and meeting new people. Learning from the people and students around me is a passion of mine. I have 2 boys (6th and 9th grade) and am married to Monte, who is a principal at Southeast of Saline High School.

Christian Eikermann I am entering my 4th year teaching 7,8,9th Grade Physical, Earth, and Life Science at the Fairfax Campus School in beautiful downtown Kansas City, Kansas. Fairfax Campus is the Alternative Middle and Highschool for USD 500. We fill a vital niche in our community by providing dyamic, personalized instruction for a student population with a tremendous diversity of needs... :)

Ceaven Evans I graduated from Kansas State University with a B.S. in Elementary Education, though for the past 13 years I have been teaching secondary Algebra and Bible classes at Flint Hills Christian School here in Manhattan. I taught previously in Cincinnati, OH, in an inner-city school. I am very happily married and have two daughters, one son, and one son-in-law, and in about a year I will have a second son-in-law. In addition our household includes a German shepherd, a dachshund, a Yorkshire terrier, two cats, and two parakeets. I have recently discovered just how enjoyable biking and kayaking are, and hope to do more of each in the future.

Connie Ferree I teach at Emporia High School. I teach Chemistry I, Honors Chemistry, and AP Chemistry. Starting in Biology as a BSE graduate from Emporia State University, I morphed into a physical science teacher through a MS in Physical Science program, also at ESU. Since 1982, I have taught biology, chemistry, physics, and general science over the course of my career. I have sponsored science olympiad, senior class, and various clubs and activities.

Marilyn Fox I teach 8th grade Physical Science at Anthony Middle School in Manhattan, Kansas. My experience as a teacher has spanned 28 years with most of my time at the middle level, but some in college and high school instruction. I have also worked in a research lab and been a coach.

Chris George I am an AP, Advanced, and Regular Physics teacher at Manhattan High School (West Campus). I also am the head coach for girls golf and boys/girls bowling. I have taught for 32 years and graduated from Manhattan High School and Kansas State University. I am married to Christy George and between us have 5 kids and 3 grandkids. My hobbies are working in the yard, golf, and outdoor sports.

Linda Giddens I was a non-traditional student when I returned to college, so I've only been teaching since '95. I teach 4-5th grade science & geography in the USD 463 school district. The 5th grade is my homeroom, we are departmentalized for the core subjects, but I also teach a keyboarding class, as well as spelling and grammar. I took the 2005 RET class at KSU and started an after-school Robotics Club for the 5-6th graders in our district. They compete locally as well as the KSU meet every year.

Kathleen Gilliland I graduated from Emporia State University with a BSE in Mathematics and Psychology. For the past eight years I have been teaching mathematics at Emporia High School. Currently I teach Geometry and Trigonometry. This next year will be the first year in which I am not teaching a new course, so I am excited to spend more time incorporating technology demonstrations into my lessons.

Linda Hodges I've been teaching Physical Education at Wamego Middle School for 19 years. I also coach volleyball and track. I graduated from Kansas State and continue to keep our P.E. program up to date with the latest fitness trends.

Erica Huggard I graduated with my BSE from Emporia State University. I later graduated with my MS in Curriculum and Instruction from KSU. I have been teaching Biology for 7 years, and six years at Emporia High School. I enjoy school and even though I have have completed my MS, I have continued to take courses every summer. I enjoy learning in my field and with other professionals.

Stacie Jordan I received a Bachelor of Science in Education degree from Fort Hays State University in 1997 and a Master of Arts in Teaching degree from Friends University in 2007. I earned a PhD in Education from Capella University in June 2012. I specialized in curriculum/instruction and research/development. I have been a middle school teacher in Wichita, KS since 1998. I taught language arts and social studies the first two years and science every year since then. I have three children. My oldest has graduated from Friends University with a degree in Criminal Justice. My son will be finishing his final year this fall here at K-State and will have a Master's Degree in Architecture. My youngest has not finished college yet, but is getting married next summer.

Pat Lamb I received my BSED and then my Masters in Biology from Pittsburg State University. I have been teaching science classes (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Zoology, Genetics, Cell Biology, AP Biology, Summer Field Biology, Independent Scientific Research, Accelerated Anatomy & Physiology) since 1979. I am also a sponsor for Science Olympiad & Medical Explorers (over 20 years) as well as a football coach.

Travis MacDonald I just finished my fourth year teaching woodworking, drafting, and construction at Wamego High School. In addition to teaching, I am involved with coaching track and sponsoring our Scholars Bowl team. I received my undergraduate degree from Fort Hays State and am currently working toward a masters degree in Instructional Technology. When I am not teaching or attending school, I enjoy fishing, woodworking, reading, and spending time outside.

Stephanie McCracken I am a graduate of Emporia State University and began my teaching career at Emporia High School 5 years ago. While there I have taught chemistry, earth science, physical science, and biology. Currently I'm teaching freshman level physical science and ELL chemistry.

Andy Morton I am currently in my 6th year as the Agriculture Education Teacher, FFA Advisor, and JV Girls Basketball Coach at Wamego High School -USD 320. I teach the following courses: Ag Welding, Ag Fabrication, Ag Structures, Agriscience, Animal Science, Agribusiness, Horticulutre, Nursery and Landscape, Ag Communications. I graduated from K-State in 2004 with my Bachelors Degree in Ag Education and in 2009 with my Masters in Educational Leadership and Administration. In December of 2010 my wife and I had a baby boy which is our first kid. In my spare time you will either find me on the family farm working or at a K-State sporting event.

Shane Neel I am a graduate of Kansas State University with degrees in biology and education. I teach 7th Grade Science at Wamego Middle School - USD 320. I also coach 7th grade football and am the head middle school boys basketball coach. I've taught 3 years in Wamego and just completed my 4th year teaching overall.

Jennifer Nider Originally from Pittsburg, Kansas, I have been an Enhanced Learning facilitator for the Wamego Special Services Cooperative since 1997, working with students in elementary through high school. I graduated from Pittsburg State University with a Bachelor’s degree in elementary education in 1991 and Kansas State University with a Master’s Degree in Special Education/Gifted Education in 1999. I live in Wamego with my husband Jim and our children Joshua and Jacalynn.

Michael Perry I am a 1992 graduate of K-State with a degree in Park Resource Management. I have worked for the Kansas Department of Wildlife & Parks @ Cheyenne Bottoms Wildlife Area & for the Federal Government @ Quivira National Wildlife Refuge. I farmed with some local farmers and operated my own outfitter guiding service for 5 years. I have entered calling contests and have been crowned the Sand Hill Crane Calling World Champion twice. I went back to school & earned my education degree from Newman University in 2006. I currently teach 7th grade Science @ Great Bend Middle School. I am a middle school football coach & the Head Varsity Coach for both Boys & Girls Bowling @ Great Bend High School. In the 2013 season my boys bowling team won the class 5A -1A State Championships. I was named as the 5A Coach of the Year for the State. I am married to my beautiful wife Pam. She is the head of Rehab Therapy @ our local hospital. We have 4 awesome children. Rachel just graduated from K-State & is working on her masters in Speech Language Pathology @ FHSU, Nellie just graduated from the Eric Fisher Academy in Wichita as a skin anthesist. Logan will be a sophomore this year in high school and plays football, basketball, and baseball, and Chance will be an 8th grader and also plays football, basketball, and baseball. I love the outdoors, I love to hunt & fish with my family & friends, and I love to coach my sons summer baseball team.

Lori Rice I grew up on a farm outside of Wamego and graduated from KSU with a BS in earlychildhood and elementary education. I am a 4th grade classroom teacher in Wamego. I have been teaching since 1996. I enjoy reading, scrapbooking, and doing activities with my 3 amazing children.

Kathy Ricketts Hi! I teach Business classes at Manhattan High School. My classes include Game Design and Computer Programming, Video Fundamentals, Video Production, and Computer Applications. In my free time, I enjoy baking, sports and spending time with family.

Lucas Shivers Raised near Clay Center, Kan., I earned a dual bachelor of science degree at Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kan., in elementary education and agricultural communications and journalism, with a minor in leadership studies. I currently teach sixth grade at Bluejacket Flint Elementary in the Shawnee Mission School District. Previously, I have taught fifth grade in Abilene, Kan., at Garfield Upper Elementary. I have undertaken many additional projects including a nation-wide Electronic Field Trip to Manzanar, CA, managing a community grant for geocaching and nutrition education, and coordinating state testing weeks.

Jerry Shubert Farm boy from Council Grove, KS. KSU then Air Force. I was B-52 navigator and bombardier. Flew over 50 combat missions in SouthEastAsia. Involved in USAF operations planning. Gathered an MS in computing science from Texas A&M to increase qualification. After retiring from the Air Force, I raised cattle and managed rental property for about 10 years. I returned to KS in 2005 and started teaching computer hardware and drafting in the Technical Education department at Junction City with a restricted license. I have since earned my full certificate and have been working hard to get a robotics program started.

Jane Squires My name is Jane Squires. I currently teach in the El Dorado School system as the Women's Physical Education Teacher at the high school. My classes include: Physical Education, Strength and Conditioning, Physical Development, and Lifeguard Training. I am the head volleyball coach and assistant softball coach. My hobbies include: jogging, coaching, back packing in the mountains as much as possible, and my most important - playing with my grandchildren, Rylee age 3 and Jackson age 1.

Marcus Stratton I am beginning my 16th year as an educator, the last 10 as a facilitator for the Enhanced Learning program of the USD 320 Special Services Cooperative. I have a MS in Gifted Education and a BS in Elementary Education from KSU. I also have a BA in communications from Washburn University. My wife, Lori, and I have three kids, Jake, Emily and Anna.
